Students Council of our college is formed as per University Guidelines andnorms. Members of the Council are nominated from different units, departments and classes,such as NCC, NSS, Sports, L.R. and BBA. For the purpose of incorporating innovative ideas/suggestions in our day-to-day college functioning from our enthusiastic students, we have placed a 'Suggestion Box' in the college corridor. Students drop their valuable suggestions in writing, in the box, which, after due consideration are implemented by college authorities.


Objectives

• To discuss the general problems of the students community on the campus.
• To make suggestion and recommendation to College administration to improve Academic, Extra Curricular, Extension and Sports activities run by the college.
• To make all sort of efforts to improve the attendance and participation of students inthe personality development programmes of the College.
• To suggest ways and means to maintain over all discipline on the campus.
• To represent the College on various Academic platforms.
• To have a constant dialogue and interaction with teachers and administration for better improvement.


Activities and Development

The activities of the department include celebration of Teacher's Day, conduct of cultural programme and Fun and Joy week. The elections of Students Council are held as per University norms.

Aim

GCC aims to enhance the employability of students by undertaking several activities through the Placement Cell.


Activities

‘Placement Fair’ is organized on regular basis in which reputed business organizations are invited for the ‘Campus Recruitment’. So far, more than 50 companies like Larsen & Toubro, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Vodafone, LIC, TCS, various banks etc. have taken part in the Placement Fair. Placement Cell arranges Pre-placement Workshops, Aptitude Tests, and sessions offering guidance on group discussion and facing the interviews. A placement pool is created by GCC to give opportunity to students from other colleges also. Around 40% of the students taking part in the placement fair come from other colleges. In the recent past, around 300 students got shortlisted in different companies across various sectors.



Soft Skills Development Centre

Aim

The Centre aims at creating awareness and development of various types of soft skills among the students. Efforts are made to enhance the employability of students by improving face to face conversation skills as well as public speaking skills.


Activities

The activities of this Centre mainly include conducting of a Soft Skills Development Programme for students every year. The programme includes sessions on various topics such as Communication Skills, Body Language, Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, Creativity Workshops, Positive Thinking, Conducting Mock Interviews etc. This is designed by the College and sponsored by Savitribai Phule Pune University. Recently the program is enhanced with the help of Cognitive Exchange, California, USA.



Competitive Examination Centre & Career Guidance Cell

Aim

Competitive Examination Centre aims at creating awareness and offering guidance to students regarding various types of competitive examinations.


Activities

The Competitive Examination Centre and Career Guidance Cell of the College organizes interactive sessions, guest lectures and seminars for students by inviting expert faculty members/personnel from civil services, police services, defense services to guide students for facing various competitive examinations. Lectures are also organized on preparations for banking examinations, defense exams, MBA Entrance Exams and NET/SET examinations. The Centre makes a display of the various notices of competitive exams which enable the students to make applications for the same. The Centre has a good collection of the latest books on UPSC/MPSC Exams, Bank Exams, NET/SET Exams etc.



Entrepreneurship Cell ( E Cell )

Aim

E-Cell of the College aims to develop the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. Ittries to provide the networking and mentoring support to budding entrepreneurs.


Activities

E-Cell has an advisory board and a panel of mentors consisting of entrepreneurs fromvarious fields. For the past few years, E-Cell is running methodically planned Business Incubation Programme for proliferating entrepreneurship among the College students. E-Cell organizes various activities such as arranging seminars, guest lectures and interactions with successful entrepreneurs, organizing creativity workshops, business plan workshops, business fair on campus, participation in National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) E-week etc. Among these, celebration of E-week-‘INDOVENTION’ is the unique activity of E-Cell.
INDOVENTION is a platform where students get the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. They also get the opportunity of networking and mentoring necessary to start their own venture. The major event is the inter-collegiate Business Plan Contest.



Student – Welfare Committee / Earn and Learn Scheme

Aim

To help the students in achieving financial self sufficiency without sacrificing their further studies.


Activities

Students welfare, mainly looks after Karmveer Bhaurao Patil Earn & Learn Scheme. Under this scheme needy and deserving students are selected and are given an opportunity to work in various administrative sections in the college. Payment to the sestudents is made on clock hour basis as per University directions



Student’s Grievance Committee

Aim

The objective of this Cell is to identify the grievances and settle the problems amicably.


Activities

Conducive and harmonious atmosphere in the student's fraternity is a well known feature among the stakeholders. In order to strengthen such atmosphere Student's Grievance Cell is established in the College. Students give a written complaint to the college on certain issues, which are resolved by the Student's Grievance Committee.



Vidyarthinee Manch & Anti-sexual Harassment Cell

Aim

Vidyarthinee Manch intends to provide a platform to girl students to discuss their problems,aspirations and thoughts with each others. Anti-sexual Harassment Cell aims to confirm an open andhealthy atmosphere in the College.


Activities

These two Cells organize lectures and workshops for the awareness amongst the girl students. In the year 2015-16, for instance, workshops on ‘ Self-defense’ and ‘ Emotional Empowerment of Girl Students’ were organized.

An active body of all the ex-students was established in the year 2002. In order tomaintain a good association with the past students, Alumni Association develops contactsand networks with the past students to bring them together and participate in the variousactivities of the college. Some of the prestigious members include Sanjeev Abhyankar,Manjiri Karve Alegaonkar, Prakash Javdekar, Ankush Kakade etc. Mr. D. S. Kulkarni isthe current President of this Association. These alumni give active support and help inmentoring our aspiring current students.

Aim

This Centre intends to understand the problems of international students taking education inthe College, and offer solutions to their problems, if any.


Activities

There are around 50 international students from 11 countries taking education in GCC.Through constant interaction, efforts are made to solve the problems of these students. Moreover, few cultural programmes are conducted for the international students every year in association with the World Organization for Students and Youth (WOSY).
