National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Aim

The aim of NCC is to develop the attitude – ‘Our blood is for the nation’ among the students of the College.


Activities

NCC department in GCC is a part of 2nd MAH. BN- Bravo Company of Maharashtra Directorate. In addition to the Sunday parades, students participate in various camps held at State, National and International level. These include Thal Sainik Camp, Army Attachment Camp, International Youth Exchange Programme etc. NCC activities also include participation of students in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi; treks and fort conservation drives; and participation in various competitions. In the year 2015-16, for instance, NCC unit of GCC has won 71 Gold, 14 Silver and 11 Bronze medals in various competitions like firing competition, drill competition, debate competition etc.



National Service Scheme (NSS)

Aim

NSS aims at personality development of students through community services. The motto of NSS is - ‘Not Me, But You’. NSS tries to develop among students- social sensitization, dignity of labor, awareness of basic human rights and upliftment of the down-trodden people.


Activities

One Hundred students are selected every year as NSS volunteers. The activities of NSS unit of GCC include – arranging blood donation camps; participation in Ganesh Immersion Programme; organizing Winter Camp; participation in relief work on the occasion of natural calamities; building toilet blocks; participation in ‘Nirmal Gram Yojana’; tree plantation programme etc.

Aim

Sports Department aims to encourage sports talent among college students.


Activities

Every year Sports Department organizes various sports competitions for the students of GCC. In the year 2015-16, GCC organized the Intercollegiate weight-lifting, Power Lifting and Best Physique Competitions.College students participate in various intercollegiate, inter-university, state and national level sports competitions. This includes participation in team events such as Kho-Kho, Badminton, Football, Cricket, Basketball etc. as well as in individual events such as Gymnastics, Archery, Judo, Athletics, Rifle Shooting, and Weight-lifting. Students whowin medals at All India Inter-University or National Championships, team events or individual events,are awarded Special Sports Scholarships.Kho-Kho (boys) team has won the inter-collegiate championship consecutively for eleven years. In the year 2015-16, GCC football team won the Intercollegiate Sinhagad Sports Karandak. This year Miss.Saloni Shah, Miss Aparna Jagtap and Mr. Shantanu Sonavane have won the gold medals in inter-collegiate boxing, athletics and long jump events respectively



Youth Red Cross (YRC)

Aim

The aim of Youth Red Cross is to inculcate the spirit of ‘Friendship, Health & Service’ among students. The main objective of YRC is to enhance social ethics and to offer help on social problems to the needy persons in the society.


Activities

The activities of YRC unit of GCC are conducted as per the guidance and direction of Indian Red Cross Society. College unit participates in various activities organized by Pune District Branch such as training programmes on Disaster Management and Use of First Aid; HIV/AIDS Awareness rallies; Blood Donation Camps etc.

Aim

Extra-mural Board of the College aims at sensitizing students regarding social responsibilities, and creating rapport with community.


Activities

Since 2008, this board has taken efforts to create sense of social responsibility among the students. Activities of it include arranging lecture series on social issues and problems.



Nature and Trekking Club

Aim

This Club aims to improve the physical fitness and create love towards the nature.


Activities

The Club organizes the treks and cleaning activity on nearby forts. The treks have been organized on different forts such as Sinhagad, Torana, Tikona, Rajgad, Raireshwar etc.
